The Tower Restoration ProjectThe Update on repairs to the Church Fabric and associated conservation work.
We have now been granted a Faculty by the Diocese to proceed with the work that is due to commence on 19
th. April 2010 and is anticipated to take 4 months to complete.
In addition to the work previously announced, i.e. Repairs to the Tower, re-lining of the chancel parapet gutters, re-slating and insulation of the Chancel roof, repairs to masonry and repairs to the North and South Nave walls the contractor has quoted for the additional repair works to the flat roof areas and the South porch. This is at a cost which represents excellent value for money and is affordable. The PCC at their meeting of 23 March agreed that this work could be included in the project. In effect, we will be going ahead with all the recommendations for phased repairs and improvements submitted by the Architects.
The contractor is DMW Restoration Ltd. and they have undertaken to carry out the work with as little disruption to the normal "life" of the Church as possible.
